Directions PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Hotel Nes is easily reached by public transport. From Schiphol Airport just take the train to Amsterdam Central Station (15 minutes). Then hop on the tram or metro to Hotel Nes.
Metro 51, 53, 54: Stop at Waterlooplein (2 stops)
Tram 4, 9: Stop at Rembrandplein
The best way to explore Amsterdam is by foot. But in case you like to take the tram or bus, you need to know that Amsterdam is divided up into zones for the purpose of public transport.
ZONE SYSTEM
To determine how many strips need to be stamped, you add one zone to the number of zones you are travelling, eg. stamp two strips if travelling in just one zone, three strips if travelling through 2 zones etc. Two strips is always the minimum number to be stamped.
You can buy a day ticket, multiple-day ticket or the strip ticket.
WHERE TO BUY YOUR TICKET
Tickets can be purchased at the VVV Amsterdam tourist office, supermarkets, on the tram/bus from the driver or conductor.
BY CAR
From the highway just follow the signs S100, Centrum. In Amsterdam you have to pay for parking on the streets.
Parking rates:
- Monday - Saturday: EUR 3,40 from 9.00 am - 24.00 pm
- Sunday: EUR 3,40 from 12.00 am - 24.00 pm
- Dayticket: EUR 20,40 from 9.00 am - 19.00 pm
- Evening ticket: EUR 13,60 from 19.00 - 24.00 pm
The nearest car park from Hotel Nes is Car Park Waterlooplein (only 5 minutes by foot): EUR 42,50 per day.
You can also leave your car on a so called P+R (=Parking + Travelling), on the edge of Amsterdam. The nearest P+R is Olympisch Stadion (follow the signs S108). A 24 hours ticket costs only EUR 5,50 and you even get 2 free public transport tickets to the center! In case you are staying 1-3 days just buy a multiple day ticket.
